What do you charge for your session fee?

Session Fees are included with Studio Photography Packages!  Please review the Investment section to learn more.

I also offer custom on-location photographic services for board, corporate, or event photography.  Please contact me for pricing at (907) 654-5515.

What methods of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, check, or credit card payments.

How long does it take to get my images?
Once I receive your order, images are usually ready within one to two weeks, depending on retouching requests (sometimes even faster!) If you are in a hurry for your order, I can expedite the order or a portion of the order.

Do you offer black and white or other color-toning options?
All images are captured in color, but can be converted to black and white, black and white with selective color, sepia, soft focus, images with text, composites/collages and any other number of unique and creative post-processing effects. If you can think of it, I can probably do it and I'm always into learning something new if I haven't tried it before.

Can you do retouching?
Yes. Basic Photo Retouching and Correction services are included as part of your package fee.  Never worry about little things like undereye circles, yellow teeth, small facial blemishes, or little scratches.  I will take good care of you. :)  I am an experienced retouch professional and can do amazing things. Please feel free to ask if you have a unique special request. I have closed zippers, opened eyes, shaved pounds and removed people and doorways - you'd be amazed at what is possible. Extremely complicated retouching requests may incur an additional retouching fee.

Can you design custom press-printed products such as albums, brag books, birth announcements, greeting cards and business cards?
Yes. I can create many different types of custom press-printed items such as Greeting Cards, Birth Announcements, Thank You Cards, Holiday Cards, Postcards, Business Cards, etc. If this is a service that interests you, please let me know and we will work together to create something beautiful and unique.

What are Fine Art Canvas Gallery Wraps?
Gallery Wraps are museum-quality canvas prints designed to turn a portrait or other into a work of art and lasting heirloom. Images are first printed directly on a Fine Art canvas substrate. The entire image is then wrapped around a wooden stretcher frame. Gallery Wraps come ready to hang with hardware and finished backs and need no additional framing or mounting.

Do you offer Wedding Photography?
Unfortunately, at this time, I do not offer Wedding Photography. From first communication to final album or print delivery, often a wedding can consume 6 months or more of a photographer's time. I feel that a photographer should be able to fully devote themselves to the couple and this very important day from beginning to end. Until such time as I can commit to that timeline fully without guilt from missing time with my young children, then I plan to remain on the wedding sidelines. I am able to provide studio bridal or bride/groom photography. Because of our famously unpredictable weather and, in my opinion, the higher quality work that I am able to produce in-studio, I typically prefer to schedule indoor studio sessions when possible. I am able to offer outdoors sessions, but they are slightly more expensive due to travel and set-up time, wear and tear on my equipment, and the difficulty of the inevitable cancellation to weather and subsequent reschedules.

What Should I Wear?

Good pictures will require a certain comfort level from you, the subject. If you are worried about losing your balance in high heels, boiling under a suit jacket in-studio, or freezing in a tank top in January, then great images are going to be difficult to capture.

Plan to look coordinated, but focus on wearing clothes you love, which are functional and comfortable and best represent who you are (or who you want to be!)

Can I bring along a change of clothes or accessories like hats and scarves?
Absolutely! Often times, our schedule provides additional time to shoot with different backdrops, at different locations, and in different outfits which will not only diversify your session, but help to capture the different facets of your personality. Bring along lots of options to choose from! It's much better to have more than you end up using, than wish you had brought something along. Who knows where our Portrait Session will take us as you relax in front of the camera and start to enjoy being hounded by the Kodiak Paparazzi!

(Oh, and if you are a member of our military, please bring along your uniform and I will be happy to include a complimentary portrait in uniform for you at no additional charge as my small way of saying "Thank you for your service!")

Can I wear patterns or stripes?
Simple, matte (non-shiny) fabrics usually work best. Avoid busy patterns, stripes, dots, designs and logos. The eye is naturally drawn to areas of greater contrast. If you are wearing a wild pattern, the viewer's eye will constantly drift from you, the subject, to your outfit choice. For this same reason, as a rule, if you are planning on being photographed on a dark backdrop, darker clothing is best, likewise light clothing is best on lighter backgrounds. Keep your jewelry choices simple and minimal.

Do you suggest long sleeves or short sleeves?
As a rule, adults typically look their best wearing long, fitted sleeves and long pants. Children and young people tend to have a bit more flexibility in this area, but keep in mind that skin tones can vary to a distracting degree on faces, necks, arms, and legs on anyone. In addition, remember that short sleeves and pants will naturally create the dreaded "area of greater contrast" where the sleeves and cuffs meet your skin. We don't want anything distracting from your beautiful self!

Can I wear white?
Well, sure. As a rule, dark solid print clothes tend to be best (and are more slimming!), but rules are made to be broken. Remember that, ideally, we want our clothing choices to complement our backgrounds and not distract from you. White on white and black on black are two of my favorite, classic looks, but white clothing on a black background can be much more challenging.

Can I bring along props to include in my images?
Of course! I want your session to best reflect who you are and what you love! However, when making the decision to include props, it is especially important that we brainstorm prior to your session to ensure that the prop enhances your image rather than taking away from you.

I wear glasses, will this be a problem in the session?
Many new lenses include an anti-reflective coating. In this case, while we may have to make some allowances for facial angles, glasses should not be a problem. If however, your glasses do not include an anti-glare coating, you may consider having your lenses professionally (and temporarily) removed by your optician prior to your session. If this is not possible, I will still be able to work around the glare, we just all have to be a little more patient with one another...

What should I do about hair and makeup for the session?
Having your hair professionally styled and/or your makeup professionally applied before your session makes an amazing difference in how you feel during your session and how you look in your final images - this is especially true with senior, bridal, and boudoir portraiture. As a bonus, professionals knows how to style hair and apply makeup so that the style holds throughout the session. (Keep in mind it's best to avoid making any drastic changes to your appearance in the weeks before your session, but a slight trim, a root color touch-up, or a new shade of lipstick should be fine.)

Should men do anything special to prepare for a portrait session?
Yes! Lest you think the girls get to have all the fun, guys need to be freshly shaven and all facial hair should be neatly trimmed. Gentlemen, if a haircut is in the cards prior to your session, be sure to allow your hair to grow at least a few days following the cut. If you have a longer style, a professional stylist is also recommended prior to your session.
